For 2025, the social security ceiling is expected to increase to €3,925 per month
The social security ceiling for 2025 is anticipated to rise by 1.6%, according to the provisional report from it, which was released following the draft law on social security financing.
The provisional report from the Social Security Accounts Commission (CCSS), covering the 2023 results and the 2024-2025 forecasts, indicates that the ceiling for 2025 could be set at €47,100 per year (+1.6%), which equates to approximately €3,925 per month (October 2024 report, pp. 9 and 43).
Without going into technical detail, the report notes that this 1.6% increase corresponds to the expected growth rate of the average wage per capita (SMPT) for 2024 (+2.8%), adjusted by -1.2% to account for the 2023 wage figure used in calculating the 2024 ceiling.
However, this amount is yet to be confirmed, as the final ceiling is determined by decree, typically issued at the end of November or early December.
Once the definitive value is established, it is likely that it will confirm the 2025 ceiling through the Official Bulletin of Social Security (BOSS), without waiting for the publication of the decree.
